Did you try pressing the x button on your controller to activate the inertia dampener before you hit the ground? Its a common noobie mistake so if you havent tried that then i would suggest doing so.

Yeah i agree i snipe a fair bit myself and even i find that blinding ball of light to be a nuisance although i have been using it to my advantage when counter sniping :P
